01
Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms form an agreement between you and the operator of Permit Answers. By accessing or using the service, you agree to these Terms and the policies incorporated by reference, including the Privacy policy and Disclaimer.
If you do not agree, do not use the service. Additional written terms may apply to future accounts, subscriptions, data services, APIs, or commercial products; those terms will control for the feature they cover if they conflict with these general Terms.
02
Description of the service
Permit Answers provides independent informational tools and content that organize permit requirements, jurisdictions, official sources, application paths, forms, fees, inspections, and related government navigation.
The service does not issue permits, submit applications, act as a government portal, provide professional services, or guarantee an authority's decision. Coverage varies by jurisdiction and project type and may change as material is reviewed or updated.
03
Eligibility and authority
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. If you use the service for a company or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes the organization where applicable.
The service is intended for a United States audience and United States permit research. Availability in another location does not mean the content is suitable or lawful for use there.
04
Permitted use
You may access the public service for personal research and internal business use, link to public pages, and print or save reasonable excerpts for a project file, provided you preserve source context and do not misrepresent Permit Answers or a government authority.
A contractor, designer, or advisor may share a page with a client as general information, but remains responsible for their own professional duties, independent verification, and project-specific advice.
05
Prohibited use
You may not use the service to violate law, infringe rights, mislead another person about a permit or government affiliation, interfere with operation or security, gain unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, evade technical limits, or collect unnecessary personal information.
- Do not impersonate Permit Answers, a government agency, an official, or another user
- Do not present our content as an issued permit, approval, legal opinion, or government determination
- Do not scrape, crawl, or query the service at a volume that disrupts it or ignores published technical restrictions
- Do not resell, republish, or build a competing database from substantial portions of our original selection, organization, or explanatory content without permission
- Do not probe for vulnerabilities outside an authorized security-testing process
06
Government material and source links
Government laws, forms, records, and websites may have separate public-domain, copyright, license, access, and use rules. Permit Answers does not claim ownership of government material merely because we cite, link to, or organize it.
You are responsible for complying with the source's terms and applicable law when downloading, reproducing, or submitting government material. A Permit Answers summary does not replace the official source.
07
Permit Answers content and marks
Except for third-party and government material, the service's original text, design, organization, graphics, software, and branding are owned by or licensed to Permit Answers and protected by applicable intellectual-property law.
These Terms grant a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the public service as permitted above. No right to use the Permit Answers name, logo, or trade dress to imply endorsement, government affiliation, or source status is granted.
08
Messages, feedback, and correction submissions
If you send feedback, a correction, or another message, you represent that you may provide the material and that it does not unlawfully disclose another person's confidential or personal information.
You allow us to use the submission to investigate the issue, improve the service, document an editorial decision, and communicate with relevant service providers or authorities when reasonably necessary. You retain ownership of your original material; this permission does not allow us to sell your private project documents as content.
09
Third-party websites and transactions
The service links to government and third-party websites that we do not control. Your use of those websites, including accounts, applications, uploads, payments, appointments, and purchases, is governed by the operator's terms and privacy practices.
Permit Answers is not a party to a transaction between you and a government, contractor, advertiser, product provider, or other third party unless separate written terms expressly say otherwise.
10
Changes, suspension, and availability
We may add, update, limit, suspend, or discontinue content or features to maintain security, correct information, respond to a source change, comply with law, or operate the service. We do not guarantee that every page or feature will always be available.
We may restrict access when use violates these Terms, threatens the service, or creates legal or security risk. Where practical, restrictions will be proportionate to the issue.
11
Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Permit Answers is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim express and implied warranties, including accuracy, completeness, currentness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, and error-free availability.
The Disclaimer explains additional limits specific to permit and professional decisions. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or warranties that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
12
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Permit Answers and its operators, personnel, providers, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, project delay, rework, enforcement action, missed deadline, or cost of substitute services arising from or related to use of the service.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the greatest extent permitted by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13
Responsibility for misuse
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the service, material violation of these Terms, infringement of another person's rights, or misrepresentation that you or your content is affiliated with Permit Answers or a government authority.
This section does not require a consumer to waive a non-waivable right or accept responsibility for conduct caused solely by Permit Answers.
14
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms prospectively when the service, law, or business model changes. The effective and last-reviewed date will be updated, and material changes will receive additional notice when required.
Continued use after updated Terms take effect means acceptance to the extent permitted by law. A change does not retroactively remove rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
15
General terms and contact
If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective and the provision will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent. Failure to enforce a provision once is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer these Terms as part of a lawful business reorganization or transfer of the service.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to [email protected] with “Terms question” in the subject line. A message to us does not notify a government agency or change a permit deadline.
